Join us in Columbia to show your opposition to offshore drilling off our coast!
The Trump administration announced its plans to open nearly all U.S. federal waters to offshore drilling activities, including the coast of South Carolina. In a new draft five-year program (2019-2024) for oil and gas development on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS), the Department of the Interior (DOI) outlined its plans to expand future oil and gas leasing to the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans, as well as the eastern Gulf of Mexico. This is the largest number of potential offshore lease sales ever proposed.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is hosting a series of public meetings in the affected states. They will be hosting the South Carolina meeting in Columbia on February 13 from 3-7pm at the Doubletree by Hilton, 2100 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210.
The comment period and public events serve as key opportunities for us to highlight the overwhelming opposition to drilling in South Carolina.
There will be a press conference between 5-6pm at the hotel with local elected officials, business owners, and others. Please join us!
