Tiger Beetles
Like their mammalian namesake, tiger beetles are fierce predators — both as burrow-dwelling larvae that ambush their insect prey and as distinctively colored and patterned adults that stalk and then chase down their victims. [9] Long popular with insect collectors, these beetles have specific habitat requirements and often limited geographic ranges. This puts many species in danger of extinction from a wide array of threats, including habitat loss, insecticide use, fire suppression, off-road vehicles and climate change. [10]
